Not too bad
My brother has been talking this place up for a while so I dropped in for brekky today.
On busy Bay Rd, freezing Melbourne winter morning, I was grateful for the heaters.
Smiling cheerful lass greeted me very quickly and I had coffee ordered right away.
There was a seeming problem conveying my double ristretto to the barista who came out to confirm.
Coffee came out promptly. My double ristretto was more like a double espresso - a bit too long I think. Taste was neither here nor there.
The long black was good. Sweet and light, almost like a Clover coffee.
Omelette was a Swiss cheese and Istra ham omelette. I'll confess I was disappointed with this. Sure, it was tasty but it was pretty standard fare. Perhaps I've been spoilt by Dead Man Espresso's amazing pecorino/mushroom omelettes, which are amazing. The cheese in this tasted like tasty to me, not Swiss. Probably a little underdone. The omelette was perfectly acceptable don't get me wrong but didn't sit well with me hours later, not sure if there was garlic or something else in it?
Anyway, my brother swears by the baked beans and fetta. Coffee is perfectly acceptable, service is good, the cakes/pastries look pretty grouse.
